The Absinthe Glow - ST (Wynona Records, 2004)

Our first full-length record was released on Wynona Records in 2004.  The record's 10 songs were primarily a reaction to the type of music that I had been playing for the past 8 years in my old punk band, the Fairlanes.  Musically, I wanted to push the low-register of my voice. I wanted no electric guitars. All mellow, all the time.  Lyrically, the whole record had to do with the dream of taking the Fairlanes to the next level, taking the band on the road for a year and a half, failing, and ultimately finding closure.   Some of my favorite tunes I have ever written are on this record. Check out our Pure Volume site to hear some of these tracks.

The record was recorded and produced in San Francisco by Matthew Black.

The Absinthe Glow - La Guitarra (Grass-Fed / Isota Records, 2008)

Our second full-length record is a concept album detailing love, life, friendship, loyalty, corruption and greed (told in both English and Spanish).  Recorded over the course of the darkest days in recent history, this conceptual gem deftly combines Joseph Campbell’s Meta Myth, the poetry of Federico García Lorca, Elliott Smith, Brian Wilson, Air, and REM. I had always wanted to write a true concept record.  After the first record, which  was a very personal journey, it seemed like the right time to do so.

The record was recorded over 3 years by the Absinthe Glow in the Santa Cruz mountains.  It was produced at Holy Roch Records, producer Alex Bonnie’s cave/studio dug deep into cliffs that line the banks of the Loire River.
